Do reminders help you reach a daily goal?
Reminders help you reach a daily goal when they arrive at a moment you can act right away, such as after a meal or at the end of work. One well-timed reminder a day is usually enough; more reminders are easy to ignore. If you already meet your goal without a reminder, you can turn it off.
When does a reminder work best?
A reminder works best when it arrives at a moment you can act on it within a few minutes. A reminder during a meeting or while driving is dismissed and forgotten. A reminder right after something you do every day, such as lunch, the end of work or brushing your teeth, links the goal to an existing routine.
To find that moment, look at your normal day and pick a time when you are usually free for five minutes. Set the reminder for that time and keep it for a week before you judge it.
How do I choose the reminder time?
Choose the reminder time by picking the earliest point in the day when you could start the activity. An early reminder leaves the rest of the day to reach the goal, while a late reminder only works if the goal can be done in one go.
- Morning reminders suit goals that you spread over the day.
- Midday reminders suit goals that you do in one block.
- Evening reminders suit goals that you can finish before bed.
Can too many reminders hurt?
Too many reminders can hurt because people learn to dismiss notifications without reading them. When every alert is ignored, even the useful one stops working. Factory Demo sends at most one reminder a day for this reason, and it skips the reminder once your goal for the day is met.
When should I turn reminders off?
Turn reminders off when you meet your goal on most days without looking at the notification. At that point the habit carries itself and the reminder only adds noise. You can turn it back on at any time if the routine slips, for example after a holiday.
A reminder is a support for the goal, not a replacement for a realistic number. If you keep missing the goal with a reminder, the goal may be too high; the guide on picking a daily goal you can keep explains how to lower it. To see whether reminders make a difference for you, compare a week with and without them as described in how to read your daily progress.

Frequently asked questions
How many reminders a day should I use?
Start with one. A single reminder at a fixed time is easy to notice. Add a second only if you often forget the goal in the second half of the day.
Why does Factory Demo skip the reminder some days?
Factory Demo skips the daily reminder on days when you already met your goal, so you are not reminded of something that is done.
Can I change the reminder time later?
Yes. Change the reminder time in the app settings at any time. The new time applies from the next day.
